Meet our Principal
Mrs. Cyiana Norley-George
I began my teaching career from the tender age of 18 at the Ciceron Combined School as a primary school teacher. I have taught all grade levels except Grade K and Grade Six. I hold a Certificate in Teacher Education and Educational Administration with the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College endorsed by UWI. As a Certified Primary School teacher, I always took a keen interest in student welfare and believed strongly that psychological well-being is an essential attribute to the teaching and learning process. Hence, my reason for pursuing studies with the University of the West Indies, where I hold a Bachelors Of Science Degree in Psychology and Sociology.
Consequently in 2007, I moved on to the Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School, where I served initially in the capacity of the school counselor and eventually as the Vice Principal. I believe that my background in school counseling have been an asset in my role as an administrator. I possess a Masters in Education specializing in School Counseling and a Masters in Educational Leadership with Lynchburg College.
I also served as Vice Principal of the George Charles Secondary School for approximately two years. It was there the opportunity emerged to combine my counseling and administrative skills in the successful merging of the George Charles and Jon Odlum Secondary Schools.
In September 2017, I commenced my stint as Principal of the Carmen René Memorial School; a premier learning institution on island. It has renewed and recaptured my love and passion for education in my quest for molding and grooming the future generations of St Lucia.
My favorite pastime is reading and long distance walking. I enjoy pageantry, coordinating events, interior decorating and community work.
I believe that leadership is an affair of the heart and that one must make meaningful connections with students, teachers, parents and stakeholders for success in the teaching and learning process.
